Downloading and printing your guide

Answers to the questions people ask most, from finding your files on Etsy to printing them at the right size.

Buying and downloading

Spoonwise guides are sold on Etsy as digital downloads. Here is how that works.

What am I buying?

Printable food guides, as digital files you download and print yourself.

A food chart is a single printable page on one food topic. It comes as a US Letter PDF and an A4 PDF, an A5 fridge sheet with the key foods in large print, and two 300 dpi images for phones, tablets and print shops.

A diet pack is a longer printable guide on the same topic. It comes as US Letter and A4 PDFs, plus ZIP files with extras such as a poster and a printable diary, and a spreadsheet. Each Etsy listing names every file included.

Will anything be posted to me?

No. Every Spoonwise item is a digital download: you print it yourself, at home or at a print shop. Nothing is posted.

How do I download my files?

Your files are ready once Etsy confirms your payment. Etsy also emails you; choose View your files on Etsy in that email, or:

  1. Sign in to Etsy in a web browser and go to Your account.
  2. Go to Purchases.
  3. Next to your order, choose Download Files.
I bought without an Etsy account. Where are my files?

If you checked out as a guest, the download link is in the receipt email Etsy sent you after the purchase. If you cannot find the email, check your spam or junk folder, and in Gmail the Social and Promotions tabs.

Can I download on my phone?

Yes, but not in the Etsy app: Etsy says digital purchases cannot be downloaded through the app at this time. Open Etsy in your phone's web browser, such as Safari or Chrome, sign in, then go to Purchases and choose Download Files.

The PDF files open on a phone in your Files or Books app or any PDF reader. ZIP files are harder: most phones cannot unzip them, so download a ZIP on a computer, double-click it to unzip, then print.

The Download Files button is grey. What now?

Etsy shows the button grey while your payment is still processing. Check again a little later. If it stays grey, contact us and we will help.

Can I download my files again, or on another device?

Yes. Etsy says there are generally no limits on when or how many times you can download a file. Sign in to Etsy on any computer or phone browser and go to Purchases to download it again.

Can I print copies for my household?

Yes. The files are for your own personal use, including copies for your household.

Can I share the files with someone else?

Please do not share, post or resell them. The files are for your own personal use, including copies for your household.

Something is wrong with my file. What should I do?

Please contact us and tell us which guide you bought and what went wrong. If a file is faulty, we will fix it and send you the corrected file.

Can I get a refund?

Please contact us about your order and we will help.

Is this medical advice?

No. It is general information to use alongside your care team, never instead of it. Follow the plan your own doctor or dietitian gives you; their advice may differ from these pages.

Printing help

Every guide is made to print at home on ordinary paper. These settings make it come out right.

How do I print a guide?

Open the PDF and choose Print. In the print box, choose Actual size or 100%, not Fit or Shrink, and pick the paper size that matches your paper.

A4 or US Letter: which should I print?

Both are included. US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches) is the usual paper in the US and Canada; A4 (210 x 297 mm) is used almost everywhere else. Print the file that matches the paper in your printer.

What is the A5 fridge sheet?

Each food chart also comes with an A5 fridge sheet: the key foods in large print, on a half-size page (148 x 210 mm) for the fridge door or a notebook. Print it at Actual size or 100%, like the other files.

It printed too small, or the edges were cut off.

Check two settings in the print box: the paper size must match your paper (Letter or A4), and the scale must be Actual size or 100%. If your printer still trims the edge, choose Fit once. Still stuck? Contact us and we will help.
